PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin received the family of the late Yogie S Memet, the 11th Governor of West Java at the Pakuan State Building, Bandung City, Sunday (9/2/2024).
During the meeting, Bey Machmudin expressed his pleasure at being able to meet with the deceased's extended family, including his wife, children, in-laws, and grandchildren.
"The extended family of Mr. Yogie, the Governor of West Java for the period 1985-1993, of course I am very happy to be able to meet. Moreover, Mrs. (Emmy Sariamah) was willing to attend with her children, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. This is a form of friendship. My generation still knows Mr. Yogie, while Mr. Mashudi is more senior," said Bey.
Bey Machmudin also appreciated the deceased's career in the military and government.
"I know that Mr. Yogie had a career in the military, then became the Governor of West Java, then served as Minister of Home Affairs. His career was extraordinary, he was a disciplined figure, a red beret. We as the next generation must certainly remember his services and learn from his efforts in building West Java," he continued.
Meanwhile, the youngest son of the late Yogie Suardi Memet, Dani (62), expressed his gratitude for the invitation from the Acting Governor of West Java.
"Thank you, Mr. Bey, for inviting us to the Pakuan State Building. This is where we lived 20 years ago. We are very grateful to be able to reminisce," said Dani.
The wife of the late Yogie Suardi Memet, Emmy Sariamah, also gave hope to Bey Machmudin to be able to carry out his duties well.
"As (Mr. Yogie's) wife, I hope that you (Acting Governor of West Java) can carry out your duties as best as possible for the country and nation. Please pray for me, hopefully I will still be given a long life," she said.
Yogie S Memet is one of the best sons of West Java who played a role in the national arena. Yogie was born in Cirebon on May 16, 1929 and died on June 7, 2007.
Yogie became the 11th Governor of West Java, replacing Aang Kunaefi whose term of office ended. Yogie served for two terms (1985–1993), before being appointed as the 20th Minister of Home Affairs of Indonesia in 1993–1998 by President Soeharto.
