PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Through the West Java District Empowerment (WJDE) program, it is a real step to empower sub-districts as centers for driving regional development.
It is hoped that sub-districts can be more optimal in carrying out general government tasks that focus on public services, coordination between institutions and community empowerment.
This was conveyed by the Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, in a coordination meeting with sub-district heads throughout West Java in an effort to strengthen the role of sub-districts in organizing general government affairs at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Tuesday (27/8/2024).
"The goal is clear, namely to accelerate the achievement of the strategic indicator targets that we have set together," said Bey Machmudin.
In addition, he said, the implementation of the coordination meeting was also in order to accelerate the achievement of West Java's strategic indicators which include various important elements.
"Starting from increasing the human development index, developing the local economy, reducing poverty rates, stunting to strengthening regional competitiveness," said Bey.
"All of these are benchmarks for the success of development that we must achieve for the welfare of the people of West Java," he continued.
Bey explained that the sub-district is close to the community at the lowest level so that it is able to respond to community needs quickly and appropriately.
"The role of sub-districts in achieving these targets cannot be underestimated. With the WJDE program, sub-district heads are expected to be the main driving force in driving the wheels of development in their respective regions," he said.
Bey further explained that in an effort to accelerate the achievement of West Java's strategic indicators, there are several concrete examples of programs that can be carried out by sub-districts.
In strengthening competitiveness, sub-districts can encourage innovation in the agricultural, tourism and creative industry sectors in their regions.
"Also promoting superior sub-district products to a wider market," he said.
In addition, exchanging experiences among sub-district heads is important because each sub-district has different challenges and successes in its area.
"Therefore, sharing experiences and learning from each other will enrich our strategies in achieving development targets," said Bey.
"We know that everyone has worked well, worked hard, and maintained their enthusiasm. We are sure that everyone will work with innovation and creativity. The challenges faced will make them more enthusiastic in working," Bey concluded.
