PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin attended the inauguration of Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara as Chancellor of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) for the 2025-2030 period at the ITB West Hall, Bandung City, Monday (20/1/2025).

In his speech, Bey expressed his pride and great hopes for Prof. Tatacipta's leadership in making ITB a world-class university.

"Once again, congratulations, very great, and I'm very proud of you, Pokonamah. I am sure and have hope that ITB under the leadership of Mr. Tatacipta will be able to find its best form," he said.

"And I believe that the big vision in his mind to make ITB a world-class university is not just a figment of his imagination," he added.

Bey also tells another side of Prof. Tatacippta when he was young, who was not only intelligent, but also able to socialize with various groups, from bookworm students to hangout groups.

"Smart, but still down to earth and friendly to everyone. This combination of brilliant intelligence and social skills is an extraordinary asset that will bring ITB even further forward," he added.

Bey also emphasized that ITB is not only a national asset, but also an important part of the Bandung and West Java communities.

He encouraged ITB to go more into the field, interact directly with residents, and provide real solutions to various local problems.

"Blusukan is not only for officials, but can also be part of ITB's vision to provide concrete benefits to the community," he said.

Bey also hopes that ITB can continue to collaborate closely with the West Java Provincial Government and the Bandung City Government.

Providing solutions

He believes that the science and research produced by experts at ITB can provide the best solutions to various challenges in West Java.

Towards the end of his term as Acting Governor, Bey conveyed a special message to Prof. Tatacipta to maintain his health because a big task awaits him.

"The public's expectations are very high. Everyone wants ITB to excel in education, research, and community service. I am confident with Prof. Tatacipta's integrity and ability. ITB's vision as an inspiration and pride of Indonesia can be realized," he said.

In closing, Bey quoted ITB's motto, In Harmonia Progressio, which he said was the soul of ITB's journey under the leadership of Prof. Tatacipta.

"Let's move together with the people, for the people so that we can progress together. I pray that Prof. Tatacipta will be successful in leading ITB and continue to provide benefits to the community," he concluded.
