PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor Bey Machmudin inaugurated the West Java Province Regional Title Research and Assessment Team (TP2GD), at the East Hall, Gedung Sate Bandung, Wednesday (4/9/2024).

Bey asked the newly appointed TP2GD to work optimally by promoting more West Java figures to become national heroes.

"Hopefully this mandate can be carried out with full responsibility and dedication, for the progress and preservation of West Java's history," said Bey Machmudin.

According to Bey, who was born in Cirebon, West Java has a central role in the history of the founding of the Republic of Indonesia. In the Land of Pasundan, many great figures were born whose services left a mark not only at the local level but also nationally and internationally.

He gave the examples of Otto Iskandardinata and Dewi Sartika who had previously received the title of national hero, as well as Mochtar Kusumaatmadja who is currently still being fought for by TP2GD.

Other names that are being proposed are two Cirebon figures, namely Kiai Abdullah Abbas and Air Admiral/Air Marshal (ret.) R Soerjadi Soerjadarma.

"West Java has always been a crucible for the birth of great leaders," said Bey.

Bey hopes that TP2GD will work harder, not only when proposing the name, but also in the excavation, assessment, research, and presentation of evidence.

"TP2GD has a big task, ensuring that every figure we propose receives a title," he said.

Bey understands the process of studying and researching the title of hero is not easy. Starting from digging up in-depth historical sources, conducting scientific research, to compiling a comprehensive and objective study.

Every aspect of the life and work of the proposed figure must be carefully analyzed, so that the decisions taken are truly based on facts of historical integrity.

Therefore, said Bey, a high level of commitment is needed from each TP2GD member to be able to carry out their duties well.

Moreover, awards to these figures are not just titles, but an acknowledgement of their dedication, leadership, and the example they have set and can continue to inspire us all.

The inauguration of TP2GD is stipulated in the Governor's Decree Number: 464.05/Kep.147-Kesra/2024 West Java Province Regional Title Research and Review Team.

The TP2GD personnel themselves are filled with academics and elements of the West Java Provincial Government. Acting as TP2GD Supervisors are the Acting Governor and Regional Secretary, while the Director is the Asda for Government and Kesra of the Regional Secretariat, assisted by the Deputy Chairperson and Secretary.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Research and Review Team is Prof. Dr. Reiza D. Dienaputra M. Hum, assisted by experts such as Budi Sujati M. Hum, Agus Salide SH MH, Prof. Dr. Ajid Thohir, Dr. N Kartika, and assisted by a secretariat filled with elements of the West Java Provincial Government's regional apparatus.
