PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin said that the fire that occurred in the Mount Tangkubanparahu forest area is currently being handled by the West Java BPBD, West Bandung Regency BPBD, TNI/Polri, and the community.
The forest fire on Mount Tangkubanparahu first appeared on Wednesday (4/9/2024), at around 09:20 WIB.
Based on mapping results from the West Bandung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the fire has destroyed a forest area of 5 hectares.
Bey immediately inspected the fire location on Wednesday night.
He said that the response of the West Bandung Regency Government together with Perhutani and the TNI/Polri was swift, working hand in hand to extinguish the fire.
"Last night I received news of a forest fire in Tangkubanparahu, I looked there. The West Java Provincial Government, West Bandung Regency Government, the community, Perhutani, BPBD, TNI/Polri worked together to extinguish the fire," said Bey Machmudin in Bandung City, Thursday (5/9/2024).
Bey also warned to avoid the behavior of throwing cigarette butts carelessly. Although it has not been confirmed as a trigger, he said it can be anticipated especially now that the dry season has arrived.
"Don't throw cigarette butts (carelessly), be careful not to let forest fires happen again in the dry season," he added.
As of Thursday (5/9/2024) morning, based on information from the West Bandung Regency BPBD, the fire had not been completely extinguished.
