PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - JAKARTA -- Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin received the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the extension of his term of office as Acting Governor.

Bey Machmudin received the Decree directly from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian at the Ministry of Home Affairs Building, Central Jakarta, Thursday (5/9/2024) afternoon.

Apart from Bey Machmudin, there are four other Acting Governors who received a similar Decree, namely the Acting Governor of West Kalimantan, the Acting Governor of Central Java, the Acting Governor of Bali, and the Acting Governor of Southeast Sulawesi.

Previously, Bey Machmudin was officially appointed as Acting Governor of West Java after being inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian in Jakarta, on September 5, 2023.

Bey replaces the definitive Governor of West Java for the 2018-2023 period, Ridwan Kamil-Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, whose term of office ended on the same date.

Thus, today, Bey Machmudin has been leading the West Java Provincial Government for a year, where he was tasked with filling the vacant position ahead of the Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) which will be held in November 2024.

With the submission of the Extension Decision, Bey's term of office as Acting Governor will last until the definitive Governor/Deputy Governor of West Java resulting from the 2024 Pilkada is inaugurated by the President in February 2025.
