PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin revealed the rebranding of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to Metro Jabar Trans (MJT) to remind the public about the existence of an integrated bus public transportation mode in the Greater Bandung area.

"Why rebrand BRT to MJT Metro Jabar Trans, because we have to remind the public that we already have an integrated bus and this also binds us so that the provincial government is serious about handling this MJT," said Bey Machmudin during the Launch of the Rebranding of Bus Rapid Transit to Metro Jabar Trans on Jalan Diponegoro, in front of Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Tuesday (12/31/2024).

Bey also stated that the launch of the MJT name was a commitment from the West Java Provincial Government to seriously implement an integrated and inclusive public transportation program.

"Don't just have buses, that's not right. There should be buses, there should be operators and systems, and they should be integrated with public transportation. Organda has committed to support, they will be a feeder for MJT," he said.

"Later it will be regulated, there will be a re-arrangement of transportation movement, there will be no transportation together on one road (with MJT). So for example, there is already MJT there, meaning the public transportation is only a feeder or the opposite. So the main route is the bus and the supporting route is by public transportation," Bey added.

Persons with disabilities

In addition, he also asked all stakeholders involved in the MJT program to provide inclusive bus stops for people with disabilities in West Java.

"I ask that the bus stops be truly considered for our disabled brothers and sisters and don't forget once they are built. There are so many stories of us only being able to build bus stops, but when they are finished they are not used. So it must continue," he emphasized.

The Metro Jabar Trans (MJT) corridor is still using the existing ones, namely five corridors that are already running.
