PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin reminisced on the campus where he studied while attending the 7th National Congress of the Parahyangan University Alumni Association, Bandung City, Saturday (7/9/2024).

Bey recalls his college days at Unpar which taught him many valuable lessons, especially regarding integrity, honesty, and the importance of careful planning.

"At Unpar, I learned to be careful, have integrity, be honest, and also learn to plan well. Maybe only Unpar is well organized, starting from the lecture schedule to filling out the study plan. From there, I learned that we must plan well and not be reckless," said Bey Machmudin.

This is what later became the principle of Unpar alumni of the 1988 class in making decisions as public officials.

Bey gave the example of accepting new students, where under his leadership the rules were strictly enforced without compromise, even in the face of external pressure.

According to him, the integrity that is upheld comes from the values taught at Unpar.

"I don't want any bribery, and until now I am still being demonstrated because I hold this principle. I learned from Unpar that consistency of rules can be enforced as long as we are committed," he said.

Bey also emphasized the importance of the role of IKA Unpar in passing on the basic values of higher education to future generations.

"Perhaps the task of the alumni association in the future is how to restore that foundation, how to instill an Unparian as someone who can stand tall, be independent, and progress," said Bey.

Unpar Chancellor Tri Basuka Joewono, when met after the event, welcomed the statement by Acting Governor Bey Machmudin.

He emphasized that with its 70,000 alumni, Unpar will continue to make major contributions to Indonesia and the world.

"We have extraordinary alumni as ambassadors for Unpar and Indonesia," said Tri.

Tri is confident that with the new IKA management, Unpar alumni will make significant contributions to development and make Unpar's name even bigger.

The 7th National Congress of IKA Unpar was attended by alumni from various generations who were committed to strengthening their contribution to society.
