PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. WEST BANDUNG - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin appreciated the implementation of the livestock contest which was held in West Bandung Regency. The event succeeded in attracting many visitors.

When met after the event, Bey emphasized the importance of events like this as proof that West Java is able to achieve food self-sufficiency, especially in the production of beef, goat meat, chicken, eggs, milk and other processed products.

"I appreciate the Regent of West Bandung for preparing this event very well, which was attended by many visitors. "This contest shows that we are actually capable of being self-sufficient in food," said Bey Machmudin after the 2024 West Java Provincial Livestock Contest and Food Expo at The Landen, Lembang, West Bandung Regency, Thursday (25/17/2024).

Present at the event was Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Dida Gardera.

Bey added, with good management, West Java can achieve food self-sufficiency not only in animal products, but also in other commodities such as rice. "In the future we can do better in managing these resources, including rice and others," he said.

He also said that increasing food self-sufficiency would have a positive impact on improving community nutrition and reducing stunting rates.

"Community nutrition will be even better and stunting numbers will definitely be reduced," he said.

The livestock contest event, said Bey, also shows that there is an economic turnaround in society, especially for livestock that win the contest to get a price
which is quite high.

"The price (of livestock) which is quite high for the winners of this contest is good for society because there is an economic turnaround," he explained.

Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination at the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Dida Gardera, stated that West Java is one of the best examples in developing the livestock sector.

"Very good, so this can be an example. Previously it was conveyed that for the agricultural sector, including livestock, West Java has one of the highest economic growth," said Dida.

He also believes that under Bey Machmudin's leadership, West Java will be more developed and advanced, and will soon achieve food self-sufficiency and be able to supply other regions.

"I'm sure it won't take too long to achieve food self-sufficiency and can also supply other regions. I really hope that West Java can become a locomotive for other regions," concluded Dida.
