PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. SUMEDANG - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin believes that Padjadjaran University Hospital can provide health services based on research.

Bey Machmudin said this after opening the Padjadjaran University Hospital Facility Services in Jatinangor, Sumedang Regency, Monday (25/3/2024).

"We welcome the presence of Unpad Hospital, even though it is still in phase one, of course this can improve health services in West Java. And this is a teaching hospital, which means research is definitely more advanced than other hospitals," said Bey.

With sophisticated health facilities accompanied by competent health personnel in their fields, Bey believes that Unpad Hospital can operate optimally to check various diseases based on research.

"So various diseases will be recognized earlier because this is a teaching hospital that never stops conducting research," he said.

Unpad Hospital is not only for the academic community, but also for the people of West Java, especially those who live in the East Bandung and Sumedang areas.

"This helps the area east of Greater Bandung, so there are more hospitals and I see that the equipment is also sophisticated. Of course, this hospital will also be a place where people can enjoy good health services," explained Bey.

In this first stage, Unpad Hospital provided 200 beds. Meanwhile, for limited operations, this hospital will open outpatient facilities (polyclinics), emergency rooms, laboratories and pharmaceutical services.

Polyclinic facilities include internal medicine specialists, gynecology specialists (obstetrics and gynecology), and pediatric specialists.

Apart from that, surgical diagnostics, eye, ENT, skin and genitals, neurology, as well as medical rehabilitation. The laboratory facilities opened include clinical pathology, anatomical pathology and radiology.

Meanwhile, Unpad Chancellor Rina Indiastuti said that Unpad Hospital in Jatinangor would be projected as a class A hospital.

According to him, currently the second phase (development) is being planned and God willing, an Unpad Class A Hospital will be established.

"This means not only helping the people of West Java with services, but also with this educational hospital, of course it will become a center for developing professional staff in the field of medicine and health so that in the future it will help West Java and Indonesia," said Rina.

To get to Unpad Class A Hospital, Rina emphasized that she had to go through several plans through synergy and collaboration with the West Java Provincial Government.

He ensured that optimal services at Unpad Hospital phase II would be operational in 2027, through the Government Cooperation with Business Entities (KPBU) scheme.

"Phase two is now in planning for the signing of the agreement in September 2024. Physical construction will be in 2025 and will be completed in 2026," he said.

"It is hoped that in 2027, (Unpad Hospital) will operate with type A and this is all permission from the Governor of West Java because the permission is from the province. Please support," concluded Rina.
