PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. PURWAKARTA - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin carried out a field visit in the context of handling Floating Net Cages (KJA) in the Citarum watershed, specifically in the Cirata Reservoir area.

The Acting Governor of West Java together with the ranks of Forkopimda, and heads of related work units monitored the Cirata Reservoir environment using a speedboat .

The group departed from the PT office. PBJ UP Cirata, Cadas Sari Village, Purwakarta Regency, then around the Cirata Reservoir.

Bey Machmudin said that controlling KJA in the Cirata Reservoir area, Purwakarta Regency will continue to be carried out by the Citarum Harum Task Force.

"This KJA control aims to maintain good water quality in the reservoir, and also so that it does not disrupt the operation of the hydroelectric power plant (PLTA)," said Bey Machmudin, Friday (12/1/2024).

Accelerating control of pollution and damage to the Citarum River watershed is contained in Presidential Regulation Number 15 of 2018.

So in accordance with the Presidential Decree, the Citarum Harum Task Force continues to strive to accelerate the implementation and sustainability of the Citarum watershed control policy through prevention operations, controlling pollution and damage.

Moreover, the Cirata Reservoir area contains a hydroelectric power plant with the largest installed capacity in Indonesia.

Apart from that, the Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) which floats on the water surface of the Cirata Reservoir also has the largest capacity in Southeast Asia.

Thus, the water ecosystem in the area needs to be kept as conducive as possible.

"In addition to controlling KJA, cleaning water hyacinth is also carried out to control its growth," said Bey.

"So it doesn't damage the natural ecosystem in the Cirata Reservoir, let alone disrupt the hydroelectric power plant operations there," he added.

The Acting Governor of West Java also wants to prevent Citarum pollution in a synergistic and sustainable manner with various parties.
