
PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin handed over compensation to the heirs of the victims who died in the Turangga train and Bandung Raya local train accidents at the PT head office. KAI (Persero), Bandung City, Saturday (6/1/2024).
This compensation comes from PT. KAI, PT. Jasa Raharja, Jasa Raharja Putera, and Pusaka Foundation.
Compensation was received by the heirs of the late Julian Dwi Setiono, Ponisam, Ardiansyah, and Enjang Yudi.
The four of them are employees of PT. KAI who died while on duty as a result of a train collision at KM 181+700 road between Haurpugur Station - Cicalengka Station, Bandung Regency, Friday (5/1).
Apart from compensation, one of the victims' wives was given a job guarantee at PT. KAI. The Pusaka Foundation also provides educational scholarships to the victims' children until they graduate from college.
Bey appreciated the parties who quickly provided treatment to the injured and deceased victims.
"I appreciate Jasa Raharja, PT. KAI and others because since yesterday in the field they have handled the injured and dead victims very well. So compensation was given quickly," he said.
Of the total passengers on the Turangga train as many as 287 people and the Bandung Raya local train with 191 passengers, there are around 37 passengers who were slightly injured and have been taken to the nearest hospital, namely Cicalengka Regional Hospital 32 people, 2 people Edelweis Hospital, 2 people AMC Hospital, and Santosa Hospital 1 person.
Bey ensured that the injured victims were handled well. All maintenance costs are borne by the government.
"We ensure that the injured victims are treated well. Yesterday afternoon many of the injured victims returned home. All the costs of their treatment are covered. So this is a form of the state's responsibility to the citizens," said Bey.
Regarding the construction of a double track on the line between Haurpugur Station - Cicalengka Station, Bey said that the line would be built soon and completed this year.
"The Managing Director of PT. KAI said that construction of the double track in the first semester of this year was completed at the location yesterday," he said.
President Director of PT. KAI Didiek Hartantyo said that the compensation provided is the right of employees as a form of affection.
"These are the rights of employees who died in the line of duty. So this is not a replacement, but this is a bond of love that PT. KAI mourns for yesterday's accident," said Didiek.
According to him, this incident should be used as a reminder to continue to improve train safety. PT. KAI will also commit to improving safety so that similar incidents do not happen again.
"This is a reminder for all of us to improve safety so that similar incidents do not happen again," said Didiek.
Currently PT. KAI and the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) continue to investigate yesterday's accident.
Didiek said that the KNKT would submit the results of the investigation in the next three to four days.
"This is KNKT's main task, so we are providing full data about yesterday's incident to KNKT. Maybe in three to four days KNKT will submit a statement," he said.
Didiek confirmed that currently the train line at the scene of the accident can be crossed by trains again.
The destroyed train carriages have been successfully evacuated since Friday (5/1) evening. The damaged rail sleepers have also been replaced and trains can pass at a speed of 5 km/hour.
"Since 01.00 this morning the route has been able to be crossed after we evacuated all the train carriages. Then we carried out infrastructure repairs because there were damaged rail bearings, now it can be crossed at a speed of 5 km/hour," explained Didiek.
"We will continue to carry out observations and improve the SOP between Cicalengka and Haurpugur," he added.
