PORTALJABAR, SUKABUMI REGENCY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin met with residents affected by floods and landslides in Neglasari Village, Purabaya District, Sukabumi Regency who were affected by landslides and landslides.

Bey said his presence was to ensure that all residents' needs were met.

"There are 215 families, 712 people isolated, they are displaced and we will report this to BNPB, first an assessment must be carried out by PVMBG, whether it is still safe or not. If it is no longer safe, relocation must be carried out as soon as possible," said Bey Machmudin when met at the location, Friday (6/12/2024).

"Earlier I met with refugees, so residents here who feel unsafe even though only four houses collapsed, three houses collapsed, one house is actually still there but is no longer safe to live in," he added.

Before reviewing the disaster location in Purabaya District, Bey Machmudin accompanied Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to meet residents affected by the disaster.

"Earlier, the Vice President also went to Cikembar, they said they would relocate (the affected houses) as soon as possible," he said.

Not only that, Bey also conveyed Vice President Gibran's message that he wanted children to go to school immediately so that they would not be too caught up in feelings of anxiety and fear.

"And he actually asked that the children go to school as soon as possible, don't let the holidays be too long, so pay close attention, later we will report it because it seems like the handling here is still not good," said Bey.

Waiting for confirmation

Bey stated that residents want certainty regarding livable and safe housing. This was revealed when Bey chatted with residents of Parubaya District.

"If they need certainty about when they can live in a safe place, so even if they relocate, they are willing to relocate," he said.

Regarding the supply of food logistics, Bey said the condition of the public kitchen was running well. Although there were still some delays in preparing food for 700 people, this would be fixed soon because the safety of residents was the main priority.

"Safe (logistics) earlier for lunch we know there were more than 700 people, the general kitchen cooks at 12, so maybe now it's almost evening before it's ready. I asked the Sub-district Head to prepare (food) earlier so they don't have to evacuate but (the food is prepared late). Try again for them to eat breakfast at 7, lunch at 12, dinner at 7," concluded Bey.
