PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. BANDUNG - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin received an award as Regional Head Supporting Best Zakat Management in Indonesia.

The award was given at the West Java National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) Award at the Grand Sunshine Hotel, Bandung Regency, Wednesday (10/7/2024).

Previously, Bey Machmudin also received a similar award given by BAZNAS RI, thanks to his active role and contribution in supporting the zakat movement and encouraging the welfare of the people of West Java.

In his speech, Bey Machmudin expressed his commitment to continue to support BAZNAS and strengthen synergy with stakeholders, which aims to create innovative programs to realize the effectiveness of the distribution of zakat funds.

"We, the West Java Provincial Government, are committed to fully supporting Baznas' efforts in optimizing zakat management. We also continue to encourage increasing zakat literacy in society, strengthening synergy with various parties and developing innovative programs to increase the effectiveness of zakat distribution," said Bey Machmudin.

He also expressed his appreciation to BAZNAS as the institution responsible for managing and developing zakat.

This responsibility is proven by carrying out regular audits of West Java BAZNAS as well as all districts and cities.

"So, even if BAZNAS is audited, especially those who are not involved in the field of zakat collection, they should imitate what Baznas does. So, you really take responsibility for what the community has given and sometimes you return it in the form of donations, social assistance. We really appreciate it, " said Bey.

Concluding his speech, Bey invited the audience to make the event a momentum to increase public awareness and participation in zakat.

"Let us make this moment a momentum to increase public awareness and participation in zakat because zakat is both worship and a social instrument that can help us build a more just and prosperous society," he said.

Apart from Bey Machmudin, there are eight other regional heads in West Java who received awards as Regional Heads Supporting the Best Zakat Management at the West Java Province Level, namely Acting Regent of Bogor, Acting Regent of Sumedang, Acting Regent of Ciamis, Acting Regent of Bekasi, Regent of Sukabumi, Regent of Tasikmalaya, Mayor of the City Depok, and the Regent of Bandung.
