PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin has signed a decision to determine the district and city minimum wages (UMK) for 2024.

The determination of West Java's 2024 UMK is contained in the Decree of the Governor of West Java Number: 561.7/Kep.804-Kesra/2023 concerning Regency/City Minimum Wages in West Java for 2024 dated November 30 2023.

"This afternoon I have signed the Governor's Decree regarding the UMK in West Java in 2024," said Bey Machmudin at Gedung Sate Bandung, Thursday (30/11/2023).

Previously, Bey had received representatives from every organization and labor union who wanted to meet him to convey their aspirations.

Bey emphasized that the 2024 UMK for 27 districts and cities was determined based on PP Number 51 of 2023 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021 concerning Wages.

"Earlier I also received trade union representatives. Using PP 51 of 2023 is our basis," said Bey.

Bey said that there were 14 regions that recommended UMK not based on PP 51/2023. The 14 regions are the cities of Bekasi, Cimahi, Depok, as well as the regencies of Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Bogor, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Garut, West Bandung, Sumedang, Bandung, Majalengka and Bandung Regency.

For regions that determine the UMK not based on PP 51, corrections are made and the calculations are adjusted according to the provisions of the PP, namely inflation as of September 2023 of 2.35 percent and a certain index or alpha with a range of 0.1 - 0.3.

The remaining 13 regions recommend the UMK value according to the minimum wage adjustment formulation, namely Bekasi, Indramayu, Cirebon, Kuningan, Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Pangandaran Regencies. Then the cities of Bogor, Sukabumi, Cirebon, Tasikmalaya, Banjar and the city of Bandung.

Bey said that the highest UMK for Bekasi City was IDR 5,343,430, an increase of IDR 185,181.80 or 3.59 percent from the previous year's IDR 5,158,248.20. Following Karawang Regency, which in 2023 was IDR 5,176,179.07 and in 2024 it increased by IDR 81,654.93 or 1.58 percent to IDR. 5,257,834.

Meanwhile, the lowest UMK for Banjar City is IDR 2,070,192, an increase of IDR 72,072.95 or 3.61 percent from 2023 IDR 1,998,119.05. Meanwhile, the 2024 MSE for Bandung City is IDR 4,209,309, or an increase of IDR 160,846.31 or 3.97 percent from 2023's IDR 4,048,462.69.

Bey said the 2024 UMK applies to workers with less than 1 year of service. Meanwhile, workers with less than 1 year of service but who have certain qualifications required for the position can be given wages greater than the minimum wage.

The minimum wage policy for workers with a working period of more than 1 year or more, applies a Productivity or Performance Based Wage policy using the Wage Scale Structure (SUSU) instrument.

Bey hopes that the decisions taken will be accepted and obeyed together. He also did not expect any excessive action from the demonstrators.

"Because it has been decided, we obey it together and indeed today's results are making the maximum effort we have done today. It is enough for us to determine today's UMK," said Bey.
