PORTALJABAR, SUBANG REGENCY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin inspected the location of the tidal flood disaster in Legon Kulon District, Subang Regency, Sunday (15/12/2024) afternoon.

After reviewing several points of houses affected by tidal flooding, Bey coordinated with the Head of Legon Wetan Village and will prepare short-term emergency efforts by building geobag embankments to divert the flow of water into settlements and roads.

"There have been emergency efforts from the village head to build geobags and this is the fastest that can be done," said Bey Machmudin when met at the location.

However, Bey said, the geobag embankment is short-term, while for the long term the Provincial Government will coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works to build a higher and more permanent wave barrier.

"But in the long term, we will coordinate with the PU Ministry to create a breakwater that may be more permanent and higher and it must be built quickly," he said.

Bey appealed to residents in disaster-prone areas to always be alert to extreme weather that will hit until early 2025.

"In addition, people must be careful, especially with the current climate at the end of the year, we must be careful," said Bey.

The tidal flood disaster submerged the homes of 1,792 heads of families from four villages, namely Legon Wetan Village, Mayangan Village, Pangarengan Village, and Tegalurung Village.
