PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin is optimistic that West Java can be an example of a safe, peaceful, and integrated 2024 Simultaneous Regional Election.
"I am sure that we can hold regional elections that are not only safe but also dignified, and bring benefits to the entire community," said Bey Machmudin, during the Joint Prayer for the 2024 Peaceful West Java Regional Election, at the West Java Regional Police Traffic Unit Building, Wednesday (11/20/2024).
"Let us make this moment as proof that West Java is capable of being a role model in democracy," he added.
According to Bey, the Simultaneous Regional Elections are an important political milestone to determine the direction of progress and welfare of West Java residents.
As a democratic party, the regional elections must be a forum for the people to express their political aspirations in a peaceful, fair and dignified manner.
However, Bey reminded all state apparatus, both ASN, TNI/Polri, to be neutral.
"To all ASN, TNI/Polri, our responsibility is not to take sides but to ensure that the Pilkada process runs according to the principles of justice, transparency and the rule of law," said Bey.
"Any form of bias, no matter how small, can damage public trust," he added.
Peaceful regional elections, Bey said, can only be realized if the situation remains conducive. So all parties must master, be aware of potential disturbances related to the spread of hoaxes, the spread of hate speech, or provocations that divide society.
For this reason, Bey invited all parties, starting from community leaders, religious leaders, youth to security forces to jointly strengthen coordination in order to maintain a safe and peaceful atmosphere.
The joint prayer ahead of the Simultaneous Regional Elections was held quite solemnly. In the same place, cleric Hasan Nuri Hidayatullah or Gus Hasan expressed the concept of brotherhood in Islam called ukhuwah. The spirit of brotherhood becomes the glue of relationships between each other.
"First, brotherhood called ukhuwah Islamiyah or brotherhood between fellow Muslims," said Gus Hasan.
However, he said, if there are differences in beliefs in religion, then humans can certainly be united through ukhuwah insaniyah , namely brotherhood between fellow humans.
Moreover, as fellow countrymen and brothers, of course one human being and another can be united with ukhuwah wathanuiyah , or brotherly unity in the bonds of nationality.
"Diversity is a common thing, among which there is wisdom, as a sign of the power of Allah SWT," said Gus Hasan.
