PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Region II reported that volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau was detected covering parts of Jakarta, Banten, and West Java on Sunday (September 6, 2026) at 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. This information is based on an analysis of volcanic ash from Himawari-9 RGB imagery.

Teten Ali, Head of the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated that if volcanic ash falls, the public is advised to wear masks to protect their respiratory tract. They should also wear goggles or eye protection when outdoors.

"Reduce outdoor activities while the ashfall continues," said Teten, Sunday (6/9/2026).

He also advised people to close doors, windows and house ventilation so that less ash enters the room.

"Avoid driving if visibility is impaired," said Teten.

Clean up the ash carefully and avoid shaking it to prevent it from re-floating. Continue to monitor official information from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Management (PVMBG), and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geological Hazard Mitigation Agency (BMKG) regarding the spread of ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.
