PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) continues to strive hard to prevent, eradicate, abuse and illicit drug trafficking (P4GN) in Garut Regency. In this effort, Garut BNNK took innovative steps by utilizing social media to target the younger generation, especially Gen Z, who actively use the platform.

"We feel that Gen Z, who is the target of conveying messages via social media, is quite appropriate. After all, Gen Z will be the one who will fill the gaps and also become the next generation in the future," said the Young Expert Narcotics Counselor. Garut BNNK Yanri Pratiwi in her statement after being a resource person for the Communication and Solutions Forum Talkshow (FOKUS) Volume 40, which was held at the UPT Broadcasting Studio, Diskominfo, Garut Regency, Thursday (21/3/2024).

Yanri said that choosing Gen Z as the target audience was the right decision considering their role as the nation's next generation. He emphasized that drug use not only harms individuals personally, but also their families and the nation.

The people of Garut are also increasingly open in communicating with the Garut BNNK via social media, both to obtain information about rehabilitation programs and to report narcotics abuse and trafficking.

Even though social media has advantages in disseminating information, Yanri admits that the main challenge is packaging interesting content so that the message conveyed can be received and digested by the audience, especially Gen Z who is critical and has high curiosity.

"So the challenge is that we as BNN, as an agency, need to package messages that are much more interesting than messages that seem stiff and so on," he said.

Therefore, Garut BNNK will continue to strive to maximize its role as a mobilizing and unifying agency, to continue to mobilize and advocate for parties who will have the opportunity to collaborate with them in efforts to improve P4GN in Garut Regency.

BNNK Garut is committed to continuing to optimize its role in mobilizing and advocating collaboration with related parties to improve P4GN in Garut Regency, in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2020 and Minister of Home Affairs Regulation 12 of 2019.

"The regional government and also the community have an obligation to facilitate prevention programs to eradicate the abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotics, especially in Garut Regency in a joint effort to make Garut Regency clean from drugs," he said.

Yanri also appreciated the Garut Regency Diskominfo for the facilities that have been provided to support efforts to prevent the abuse and distribution of narcotics in Garut Regency.
