PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto conveyed the message from the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia that Islamic boarding school students (santri) must be knowledgeable, moral, and empowered. Rudy delivered this message while leading the 2025 Santri Day commemoration ceremony at Tegar Beriman Field, Bogor Regency, Wednesday (10/22/2025).
The 2025 Santri Day theme is "Guarding Indonesia's Independence and Moving Toward World Civilization." This is a very appropriate theme. It reflects the determination and role of santri as guardians of independence and drivers of progress. Santri must not be mere spectators of the changing times.
The ceremony was attended by students representing Islamic Boarding Schools throughout Bogor Regency along with the ranks of Bogor Regency Government ASN.
Rudy conveyed the Minister of Religious Affairs' mandate that Santri Day should be a momentum for the revival of Indonesian Islamic boarding school students. Today's students must not only master the yellow books but also master technology, science, and world languages. The digital world must also become a new field for Islamic preaching for students.
"Be a student who is knowledgeable, moral and empowered. Maintain the traditions of the Islamic boarding school, but also embrace the innovations of the times," he said.
Rudy continued, "Bring the spirit of Islamic boarding schools into the public sphere, into the workplace, and into the international arena. Demonstrate that students are capable of being part of the solution, not just bystanders. Continue fighting together to guide this independent Indonesia toward a peaceful and civilized world."
"Santri must be present as new historical actors, becoming bearers of the values of Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin in building a peaceful, just, and civilized world civilization," he said.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Regent of Bogor, the Head of the Bogor Regency Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, the Commander of the Bogor Regency Military District 0621, the Bogor Police Chief, the Deputy Speaker of the Bogor Regency DPRD, the Bogor Regency Regional Secretary, the Chairman of the Bogor Regency Baznas, along with religious scholars and leaders of Islamic boarding schools.
