PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government has taken decisive action to reduce the risk of natural disasters by requesting all regents and mayors to halt the issuance of permits for the development of tourist attractions and housing in forest and plantation areas. This policy was adopted by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi and outlined in Circular Letter Number 60/PEM.04.04.01/ASDA EKBANG concerning the Technical Implementation of Land Conversion Control in West Java Province.

Dedi said that the suspension of building permits in tourist and residential areas was necessary to reduce the risk of natural disasters, such as landslides and floods.

He instructed the regents and mayors to be more active in protecting forest and plantation areas so that they do not turn into commercial or residential development areas.

"Regents and mayors must be more proactive in controlling land conversion and restoring conservation functions, especially in forest and plantation areas," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, Sunday (May 10, 2026).

Previously, the West Java Provincial Government issued Governor Regulation Number 11 of 2025 concerning Control of Land Conversion.

In the Governor's Regulation, it is written that there are several steps taken by the Governor of West Java to control land conversion, one of which is carrying out supervision.

Supervision is carried out in order to ensure the continuity and sustainability of land functions, the sustainability of protected areas and ecological functions.

In addition to monitoring, the governor also restored land to its intended use. This step was carried out through coaching land rights holders and collaboration with landowners.

The Governor also provides resources, including facilities, human resources and funding, for controlling and restoring land conversion.

Furthermore, the governor supervises the control of land conversion carried out by the relevant regional apparatus.
