PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin received a visit from the Deputy for Research and Innovation Facilitation of the National Research and Innovation Agency at the Pamengkang Room, Garut Regency (08/04/2026) to discuss the use of national research programs to increase the Regional Competitiveness Index.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy for Research and Innovation Facilitation of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Agus Haryono, along with a number of directors and regional officials.

Abdusy Syakur Amin welcomed the visit as an opportunity to strengthen regional development through research-based innovation.

Syakur stated that the district government is developing the Wirahebat entrepreneurship program to encourage the emergence of new entrepreneurs in the community.

The Wirahebat Program has entered its third batch and continues to be developed to align with national research program standards.

"We will also wait for your instructions, and we have no objections to modifying it to conform to the format code at BRIN," said Syakur.

Syakur assessed that the challenges of entrepreneurship in Garut are not only related to capital but also the formation of a sustainable business ecosystem.

The district government hopes that two-way communication with research institutions can strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem.

Agus Haryono appreciated the increase in the Regional Competitiveness Index of Garut Regency, which experienced a significant increase compared to the previous year.

According to Agus Haryono, the Regional Competitiveness Index is an important indicator that is directly related to community welfare.

"Indeed, the Regent's topic is mostly food, but we hope to also discuss other products, especially energy, because currently, with the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, energy prices are getting more expensive," said Agus Haryono.

The meeting is expected to produce further steps so that national research programs can be integrated with regional development.
