PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin opened the 2026 Garut Regency Junior High School Quiz Competition (LCC) at the Garut Regency Pendopo Building, Thursday (17/9/2026).

Syakur said that LCC is a means to motivate students to improve their literacy skills while also building a positive competitive atmosphere in the school environment.

According to him, this activity also serves as a means of fostering friendship for students from various regions in Garut Regency to get to know each other and build collaboration.

"I want our children, even those from Talegong, Malangbong, and Tarogong, to know each other as Garut people, so that they have a willingness to collaborate and foster friendship for the advancement of Garut," said Syakur.

Syakur hopes that similar activities can be held more lively by involving more schools.

"It definitely has to be lively, and the children will have a lasting impression of participating in the competition, especially if they win. The prizes are also quite substantial. I told the principal that if their school excels, we will give them a reward," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Garut Regency Education Office, Asep Wawan Budiman, said that the LCC not only aims to find champions, but is also part of student development.

This guidance is aimed at building a culture of literacy, critical thinking skills, reasoning, collaboration, and problem solving.

"We want Garut's children to not only be smart at answering questions but also be able to understand information, think before making decisions, be self-confident, and maintain good character and attitude," said Asep.

A total of 358 out of 430 schools participated in the 2026 Junior High School LCC in Garut Regency.

The sub-district level selection was held on August 26, 2026, and resulted in the 16 best teams from the first and second place winners in eight regions.

The 16 teams then took part in the district-level LCC competition.
