PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin met with the leadership of the National Research and Innovation Agency in Jakarta to strengthen research and technology application to accelerate development and increase regional competitiveness (24/2/2026).

The meeting took place at the Head Office of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, as a concrete step to optimize Garut's superior potential based on scientific data.

Abdusy Syakur Amin was received by the Deputy for Regional Research and Innovation of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Yopi, and the Deputy for Research and Innovation Facilitation of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Agus Haryono.

Syakur stated that research collaboration is key to accelerating development so that regional policies are based on accurate data and have a direct impact on the community.

He stated that national research support is crucial to ensure appropriate innovations targeting the agriculture, maritime, tourism, and micro-small business sectors.

Garut Regency previously achieved a Regional Competitiveness Index score of 3.85 in 2025, which serves as initial capital for strengthening priority research-based sectors.

Yopi said the index data could serve as a basis for improving weaknesses in certain sectors through cross-institutional collaboration.

Agus Haryono expressed his readiness to facilitate the commercialization of local research results through start-up development so that regional innovations can provide added economic value.
