PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin attended the Simultaneous Rice Harvest event for 14 Provinces which was held online with the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, on Jalan Lingkar Baru, Garut Regency, Monday (7/4/2025).

On that occasion, Abdusy emphasized the importance of serious attention to farmers as the front line in maintaining national food sovereignty.

"Today we are carrying out a mass harvest, this is a form of government commitment to guarantee state sovereignty through food sovereignty," he said.

He emphasized that rice is the main component in food, so farmers must get maximum support. Starting from the provision of irrigation, seeds, and fertilizers, to encouragement in the use of agricultural technology.

"I ask for your help, everyone, because rice is one of the main components of food. Therefore, we must pay attention starting from the farmers," he said.

Regarding the price of paddy, Abdusy asked Bulog to actively maintain price stability and provide education to farmers regarding paddy quality standards. He appealed to the public to sell paddy at a fair price, which is Rp6,500 per kilogram.

"Then also the company, if you can imagine, if Bulog buys paddy with too high water content, it will rot quickly and damage other paddy in the warehouse. This must be conveyed so that there is no misunderstanding in the community," he said.

Abdusy hopes that with the synergy between the local government, Bulog, and farmers, farmers' welfare will increase and national food security can be achieved. He also asked village and sub-district heads to disseminate this information widely to the community.

Head of the Garut Regency Agriculture Service Haeruman said that the mass harvest in Garut Regency was carried out on 92 hectares of land in the Cikembulan Village area, Kadungora. The harvest was carried out in stages every day.

He explained that his party also invited Perum Bulog to absorb farmers' rice according to the set price, so that it is hoped that Bulog can buy rice from farmers with an average yield of 5 tons per hectare, thus producing hundreds of tons that can be absorbed at a price of Rp6,500.

"So that farmers can increase their income not only by choosing cheap prices but also reasonable prices," he said.

Haeruman added that previously a bumper harvest had also been carried out in the southern region of Garut, precisely in Pameungpeuk District, with a total land area of almost 400 hectares.
