PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Regent of Garut, Abdusy Syakur Amin, officially inaugurated seven Village Heads resulting from the Interim Election (PAW) in the Pamengkang Room, Jalan Kiansantang, Garut City District, Garut Regency, Monday (8/6/2026).

On this occasion, the Regent emphasized the important role of village governments in supporting regional development, especially in the education and health sectors.

According to the Regent of Garut, villages are the spearhead of development because regional progress is highly dependent on conditions and developments that occur at the village level.

"If the village progresses, the district progresses. Conversely, if the village faces obstacles, the district will likely face them as well. Therefore, I am very committed to village development. But I am confident that with cooperation and mutual assistance from all elements of society, we can still work well," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.

Abdusy also highlighted the ongoing issue of school dropouts in Garut Regency. He urged the newly inaugurated village heads to immediately take concrete steps through cross-stakeholder coordination and cooperation to reduce the number of school dropouts.

"Ladies and gentlemen, look for children who have dropped out of school and find the reasons why they are not attending school. Then, together, we will find solutions. If they don't have shoes and a school bag, tell us, and we will provide them with shoes and a bag. If it's financial, we will find solutions through the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP). Of course, this doesn't mean we can fulfill everything, but we will continue to maximize our efforts to provide what the community, especially school children, needs," the Regent emphasized.

Beyond the education sector, Abdusy also highlighted the importance of maintaining the success of stunting management in Garut Regency. Although stunting rates continue to decline, he reminded all village government officials to remain vigilant and not let down their guard in prevention efforts.

He also asked the Village Heads to be proactive in identifying and resolving various problems faced by the community in their respective areas.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we must work together to find concrete solutions to the problems that arise. If there's a problem, don't keep quiet. At the very least, tell the sub-district head about it. If possible, you can even tell me directly," he added.

At the end of his speech, he advised the newly inaugurated Village Heads to carry out their mandate with full responsibility and be committed to realizing independent and competitive villages.

The seven Village Heads who were inaugurated as the result of the Interim Election (PAW) consist of:

1. Sri Patmawati, Head of Dano Village, Leles District;
2. Dedi Supriadi, Head of Karyasari Village, Cibalong District;
3. Ma'mun Nugraha, Head of Maroko Village, Cibalong District;
4. Ahmad Yusuf, Head of Mulyasari Village, Bayongbong District;
5. Gumilar, Head of Limbangan Tengah Village, Balubur Limbangan District;
6. Dadat Hidayat, Head of Cikajang Village, Cikajang District; and
7. Tatang Mulyawan, Head of Bojong Kidul Village, Pameungpeuk District.

Through this inauguration, the Garut Regency Government hopes that the village heads will become driving forces for development and strengthen community services at the village level. (Garut Communications and Information Service/rka)
