PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Regent of Garut, Abdusy Syakur Amin, officially saw off the participants of the "Tour Asia Finish Mecca" (Independent Cycling Journey Exploring Asia) activity at the Garut Regency Hall Yard, Kiansantang Street, Garut City District, Sunday morning (14/6/2026).

In his remarks, the Regent of Garut expressed his admiration and emotion for the dedication shown by Garut cyclist Asep Akung. According to the Regent, this extraordinary spiritual journey represents a positive effort and jihad toward Mecca that deserves appreciation.

"This journey is an example for others. It shows that there are many ways to achieve our goals. Even if it sometimes makes people feel different, that's okay. Because this is our belief and our desire to make history," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.

The Regent prayed that Asep Akung would always be blessed with health, safety, smoothness and blessings along the cross-country route that he would take.

"I also want to convey a message: please maintain communication. Continue to monitor them, including, if possible, where they are, who they are with, and especially what their condition is like. I want to be continuously monitored," the Regent emphasized.

Meanwhile, Asep Akung, the cyclist undertaking this independent journey, stated that his physical and mental preparation was thorough and well-prepared. He explained that his mission to cycle to Mecca was not merely a spiritual journey, but also an environmental and health mission.

At the end of the farewell procession, Asep asked for moral support and prayers from all levels of society in Garut Regency so that the journey to the holy land of Mecca can run safely and smoothly.

"Hopefully, with the blessings of the Regent in particular and the Garut community in general, we can reach our goal in three or four months at the latest," Asep concluded. (Garut Communications and Information Service/rka)
