PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin emphasized the optimization of the local supply chain in the Free Nutritious Meal Program so that its benefits not only improve children's nutrition but also stimulate the economy of the Garut Regency community (11/3/2026).

Abdusy Syakur Amin conveyed this while leading the Coordination Meeting for the Free Nutritious Meal Program at the Garut Regency level in the Meeting Room of the Tarogong Kidul District Regional Secretariat.

The Garut Regency Government noted that 425 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units have been operating and distributing nutritious food to children in the Garut Regency area.

Abdusy Syakur Amin believes that the existence of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit can improve the nutritional status of the younger generation while opening up employment opportunities.

However, Abdusy Syakur Amin highlighted community complaints regarding the supply of raw materials, which still largely originate from outside the region, thus not fully providing economic benefits to local residents.

"This is something I don't think is very good. There are still many complaints that SPPG sources its raw materials not from the local community, but from other places. I understand that there are efficiency considerations, as it's easier to source from other places. However, this must be addressed immediately and not allowed to continue, as it could have repercussions in the future," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.

The Garut Regency Government will regulate the supply chain for the free nutritious meal program so that the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit prioritizes food supplies from local farmers and traders.

This step is expected to make the economic cycle of this national program directly felt by the people of Garut Regency.

Abdusy Syakur Amin also instructed to strengthen coordination between the regional coordinators of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit and a number of regional agencies.

The Health Department is asked to ensure that nutritional standards for food are consistently met for beneficiaries.

The Environmental Service is tasked with supervising the management of waste generated from the kitchen activities of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit.

The Garut Regency Government has also prepared a public complaints service via a hotline to facilitate reporting of program obstacles in the field.

"This is our shared responsibility, as it also affects the residents of Garut. I urge all parties to contribute to the success of the MBG program, ensuring its positive impact on social, economic, and health conditions, as well as equitable development," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.
