PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Regent of Garut, Abdusy Syakur Amin, attended the Grand Tabligh of the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday and the inauguration of the Boys' Dormitory of the Bidayatul Faizin Islamic Boarding School in Babakan Negla Hamlet, Cipangramatan Village, Cikajang District, Garut Regency, Tuesday (15/9/2026).

In his remarks, the Regent of Garut recalled the struggles of his predecessors in establishing the Bidayatul Faizin Islamic Boarding School which is located in an area quite far from the city.

"Ieu teh tos lami geningannya, ti 1975, kantosna abi ngabayarkeun kapungkur waktos sepuh urang build ieu place, harita anu kaunjung hara-haraeun, kaditu kadieu jalanna kaunjung sapertos kumaha. Keusikna ge teu acan tangtos aya, but my intention was to hoyong syiar religious da'wah (This turns out to have been "It's been a long time, since 1975. I often imagine that when our elders built this place, at that time what I imagined was an atmosphere that was still quiet/nothing was there, I couldn't imagine what the sand would be like here and there, but there was a strong intention to spread religious preaching)," he said.

Abdusy Syakur also appreciated the existence of the Bidayatul Faizin Islamic Boarding School, which is considered to have a role in providing religious guidance for the community in the area.

"I'm often told why Islamic boarding schools are often located in remote areas, why not on the side of a major highway. Because if the roadside is accessible to the general public, it is the people in the interior who really need guidance and direction from those who carry out religious activities," he continued.

In addition to religious education, the Regent of Garut emphasized the importance of general and religious education for the younger generation in facing the challenges of the times.

He also highlighted the continued absence of children in Garut Regency who drop out of school due to work or early marriage. Therefore, he urged all elements of society to work together to encourage children to have access to adequate education, both general and religious.

"There are 40 thousand Garut residents who dropped out of school, and it turns out most of them are because of work, because of marriage. Well, whatever the reason, we must encourage all our children to go to school. Schools don't have to be just public schools, but religious schools are also very good if they can get both," he stressed.
