PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Investment in Bandung City recorded a positive trend. Until September, investment realization had reached IDR 8.57 trillion, exceeding the 2024 target of IDR 7.3 trillion.
Regarding this achievement, Acting Mayor of Bandung A. Koswara said that it is important for investment to not only increase economic value, but also have a direct impact on community welfare.
He encouraged investment in labor-intensive sectors and the creative economy, because these sectors are able to integrate the potential of local talent in Bandung City.
"This investment must be able to reduce the open unemployment rate which is still at 7.4 percent and solve the problem of economic inequality. We encourage investment in the labor-intensive sector and the creative economy, because this sector is able to integrate the potential of local talent in the city of Bandung which has been recognized," said Koswara at the 2024 Bandung Investment Summit, Wednesday (11/20/2024)
Head of the Bandung City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) Ronny Ahmad Nurudin explained that this year's investment achievements came from Domestic Investment (PMDN) of IDR 6.34 trillion and Foreign Investment (PMA) of IDR 2.23 trillion.
Some of the leading investment sectors include transportation, warehousing, telecommunications, other services such as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, hotels and restaurants, as well as housing and offices.
"Bandung City as the capital of West Java province has great potential in various sectors that can attract investors," he said.
Ronny also said that the Bandung Investment Summit is a strategic platform to promote investment opportunities in the city of Bandung.
"We also integrate large sectors with MSMEs so that the economic impact is broader and more inclusive. This collaboration is expected to be able to encourage economic growth and improve people's welfare," he said.
Bandung City DPRD Chairman Asep Mulyadi appreciated the increase in investment realization this year. According to him, quality investment must be in line with sustainable development.
"Investment is not just about value, but also its impact on society. We must ensure that incoming investment is able to increase people's purchasing power, create jobs, and maintain environmental sustainability," he said.
Secretary of DPMPTSP West Java, Deni Rusyana, revealed that Bandung City is in fifth position in terms of regional investment contribution in West Java with an achievement of IDR 8.57 trillion.
"West Java continues to be the main investment destination in Indonesia. However, the challenge is to encourage inclusive and sustainable investment, so that all business sectors, from micro to large, can feel the benefits," he said.
The success of Bandung City in exceeding investment targets is proof of the local government's commitment to creating a conducive business climate.
With a focus on sustainable development and inclusivity, the city of Bandung continues to demonstrate its competitiveness as an investment-friendly city at both national and international levels.
