PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to developing the creative economy sector which is increasingly becoming the backbone of the regional economy.
As of October 2024, data shows various significant achievements that have been achieved in the arrangement and development of the creative economy.
Including the implementation of policies, business actors, and the formation of a strong creative ecosystem in the Flower City.
Please note, as a follow-up to Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2021, the Bandung City Government has ratified several important regulations.
One of them is Perwal No. 132 of 2022 which regulates the creative economy information system, and Perwal No. 40 of 2022 which contains the procedures for establishing the Creative Economy Committee.
In addition, the mayor's decision stated in Kepwal No. 556/Kep. 398-Disbudpar 2022 establishes a creative economy development and arrangement committee for the 2022-2025 period.
In 2023, two Draft Mayoral Regulations (Raperwal) that will strengthen the creative economy ecosystem have been prepared.
This draft regulation covers the formation and empowerment of creative spaces in Bandung City as well as the expansion of opportunities for creative economic activities and businesses. Currently, both draft regulations are awaiting ratification.
Data from the Bandung City Creative Economy Information System, Patrakomala, recorded that there were 4,181 creative economy actors registered until this year, with 4,156 of them having been verified.
Data consolidation with Online Single Submission (OSS) resulted in 56,075 creative economy actors spread across various sub-sectors.
The number of creative economy actors in Bandung City per sub-sector is as follows:

4. Product design 272 units
5. Interior design of 92 units
6. Photography 367 units
7. Music 220 units
8. Craft 696 units
9. Culinary 1500 units
10. Fashion 1140 units
11. Fine arts 105 units
12. Issuance of 107 units
13. Video animation film 353 units
14. Advertisement 105 units
15. Interactive games 9 units
16. Performing arts 83 units
17. Radio television 109 units
The Bandung City Government has also facilitated the registration of 762 Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for creative economy actors. In addition, professional certification has also been given to 50 people in the field of photography and 60 people in the field of animation.
Training for novice creative economy actors also continues to be improved. In 2023, 2,925 creative economy actors have received training, up from 1,710 creative economy actors in 2022.
The contribution of the creative economy to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) continues to increase. This year, the value of the creative economy is estimated to reach Rp641.82 trillion or around 7 percent of the total GDP with a growth rate of 5.76 percent. Creative sectors in Bandung such as culinary, fashion, and crafts continue to make significant contributions to the city's economy.
The Bandung City Government also continues to develop an ecosystem that supports the creative economy through various initiatives.
Creative Workspace (CWS) has been established in 30 sub-districts to provide creative work space for creative economy actors. In addition, the government also facilitates technical training and mentoring programs to improve the quality and competitiveness of creative business actors.
With these various achievements, the creative economy in Bandung City is projected to continue to grow and contribute to improving community welfare and regional economic progress.
The Bandung City Government hopes that through policy synergy, support for creative economy actors, and strengthening the creative ecosystem, Bandung will become a creative city that is increasingly competitive at the national and international levels.
