West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi urged the public to restore the mountains' function as "pananggeuhan," or a place to lean on. Mountains must remain ecological guardians of nature, with their forests, which must always be protected.

This was conveyed by KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, at the Inauguration of the Management of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of West Java Province for the 2025-2030 Service Period as well as the commemoration of Isra Miraj at the Pakuan State Building, Tuesday (27/1/2026).

"I convey that currently mountains are no longer a place of worship because of the loss of spirituality in mountains and in nature, humans dare to destroy even forest cover," KDM emphasized.

According to KDM, MUI can play a role in raising public awareness in protecting the environment.

The West Java Provincial Government will also improve spatial planning to support the environment.

Meanwhile, Aang Abdullah Zein, Chairman of the West Java Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for the 2025-2030 term, invited MUI administrators and members to donate to landslide victims in Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency. He began by donating Rp 5 million.

27 victims identified

As of the fourth day of the search for landslide victims in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, on Tuesday (January 27, 2026), at 5:20 p.m. WIB, 27 victims had been identified. A joint search and rescue team is still searching for 33 people in the rubble.

Bandung Search and Rescue Office Head Ade Dian said the search for victims on Tuesday (January 27, 2026) resulted in the discovery of eight body bags. The eight body bags have been handed over to the West Java Regional Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team for identification.

Thus, since the first day of the landslide on Saturday (24/1/2026) to Tuesday (27/1/2026), a total of 47 body bags have been handed over to the West Java Regional Police DVI team.

The joint SAR team will continue searching for victims in Cisarua District for 14 days after the landslide. To ensure the health of SAR team members, health workers from the local government, ministries, and volunteers have provided vaccines, vitamins, and medication. (West Java Public Relations/Teguh)
