PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Health Office (Dinkes) invites residents to prevent Type A Influenza through a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) and early examinations.

The Head of the Bandung City Health Office, Sony Adam, said that residents' visits to health facilities had increased along with the increase in influenza cases.

"There has been an increase in influenza cases in Bandung City. The number of people visiting health care facilities has also increased, especially emergency rooms. Influenza cases can actually be handled at community health centers (Puskesmas), primary clinics, practicing physicians, and hospital polyclinics," said Sony at Bandung City Hall on September 28, 2026.

According to Sony, the public does not need to panic because influenza can be handled well through examination and treatment according to the condition.

Prevention of transmission is done by wearing masks, washing hands, avoiding crowds, and maintaining body immunity.

"The most important prevention measure is wearing a mask because it's transmitted through droplets. Also, wash your hands frequently, avoid crowds, avoid contact with sick people, and maintain a strong immune system," he said.

Symptoms of influenza include fever, aches, headache, nausea, and feeling weak, so you need to see a health professional immediately.

Residents can seek treatment at community health centers, clinics, independent practicing doctors, or hospital polyclinics according to their condition and treatment needs.

"If you have flu symptoms, go to a clinic, community health center, or private practice for treatment. Then, rest so you don't spread the illness to others," he said.

The Bandung City Health Office also provides preventive education through health promotion at Community Health Centers and direct education to patients.

"We conduct health promotion at the Community Health Center to the community, then provide direct education to patients who come to the health care facility," said Sony.

Monitoring of Type A Influenza is carried out through the Padasuka Community Health Center as a sentinel location for influenza screening in Bandung City.

Samples from patients with flu symptoms were taken and sent for further examination as part of monitoring the development of the virus.

"This influenza strain is being continuously monitored by the Ministry of Health. Based on the results of this monitoring, the public should not panic. The important thing is to implement preventive measures and seek immediate treatment if symptoms develop," he said.
