PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regency once again proved its dominance in the West Java futsal arena. Playing in front of their home crowd, the Garut Regency men's futsal team successfully defended their title and emerged as the first place winner of the 2026 West Java Provincial DPRD Chairman's Cup Futsal Regional Championship, held at the RAA Adiwijaya Sports Center in Tarogong Kidul District, Garut Regency, on Thursday (August 27, 2026).

This achievement is a sweet historical record for Garut Regency which succeeded in winning the championship title consecutively (back-to-back champion), confirming Garut's status as a mecca for futsal development in West Java.

Head of the Sports Competitiveness Division, Asep Robi Nugraha, expressed his pride and emotion for the extraordinary efforts of the athletes and coaches on the field.

"Thank God, the prayers and support of the entire Garut Regency community have been answered. The Garut futsal team has successfully met the challenge by defending its title for the second time. This is proof that our athletes are very strong in quality and have a strong competitive spirit," said the Head of Sports Competitiveness.

Asep added that this success aligns with the Garut Regency Government's mission to make sporting events a means of building achievements and driving the regional economy through the concept of sports tourism.

"This victory not only brings pride and a trophy to the region, but also proves that Garut is successful, both in terms of hosting the event and achieving achievements," he added.

In addition, Asep also expressed his high appreciation for the discipline and consistency of the Garut futsal team throughout the tournament.

"Defending a championship title is much more difficult than winning it. Successfully defending this prestigious trophy for the second time demonstrates that the sports development and competitiveness system in Garut Regency is running very well and is structured," emphasized the Head of Sports Competitiveness.

This back-to-back championship title is expected to be valuable capital and great motivation for Garut futsal athletes to continue to achieve success in other prestigious events, both at the provincial and national levels.
