PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - The Ciamis Regency Government hosted the 2026 National Poultry Dialogue, which discussed strengthening smallholder poultry farming businesses to increase production and support national food security (April 29, 2026).

The activity, which was held at the Muhammadiyah Ciamis Health College Hall, was initiated by the National Chicken Farmers Organization Guard and was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Sudaryono, members of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, academics, business people, and farmers from various regions in Indonesia.

The dialogue provided a forum for discussing various issues facing poultry farmers, from cultivation, business management, distribution of livestock products, to strategies for increasing productivity and business efficiency.

Ciamis Regency Regional Secretary Andang Firman Triyadi said that the poultry farming sector is one of the region's economic strengths that continues to grow.

Andang said that poultry production in Ciamis Regency reaches around 1.3 million birds every year.

This production not only meets the needs of the Ciamis community, but is also marketed to a number of other regions in Indonesia.

"It is a source of pride and a great responsibility for us to continue to maintain and improve the quality of the poultry farming sector in Ciamis Regency," said Andang.

He assessed that the national dialogue forum provided an opportunity for livestock breeders to convey various challenges faced in the field.

Andang hopes the central government can strengthen support for livestock farmers by improving access to financing, business management, and strengthening production.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Sudaryono, stated that the central government has placed food self-sufficiency as a national priority in agricultural development.

Sudaryono said various strategic policies have been issued through presidential regulations to accelerate the increase in agricultural and livestock production in the regions.

"President Prabowo has prioritized food self-sufficiency as a key national agenda. Therefore, the government has implemented various concrete policies to provide stronger support for farmers and livestock breeders, both in terms of production and distribution, as well as the welfare of agricultural business actors," said Sudaryono.

During the activity, Sudaryono also had a direct dialogue with smallholder farmers to hear their aspirations and the obstacles they face in running a poultry farming business.

Input from livestock farmers will be used as material for policy formulation so that government programs can answer real needs in the field.
