PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Bandung District is promoting the Cigondewah Textile Zone (KTC) as a community-based tourist destination combining textile shopping, culinary delights, and the creative economy. This effort is expected to revitalize the MSME economy in three Cigondewah areas: Cigondewah Rahayu, Cigondewah Kidul, and Cigondewah Kaler.

This was conveyed by the Head of Bandung Kulon District, Jajang Afifudin when inaugurating the Harmonious Weaving Festival for the Economy at the KTC Bandung City, Saturday (27/8/2026).

Jajang said the activity was the first step in reviving KTC as a community economic center with great potential in the textile and local tourism sectors.

"Hopefully, this activity will further develop Cigondewah's economy. All MSMEs in West Bandung, especially Cigondewah Rahayu, Kidul, and Kaler, can grow and become more well-known to the public," said Jajang.

He believes KTC has the advantage of being a textile center that can be combined with culinary tourism. He proposed that the area regularly host culinary events, especially in the afternoon and evening.

This will attract more visitors. This concept is expected to become a new attraction for Bandung residents and tourists from outside the city.

"People come here not only to buy fabric but also to enjoy the culinary delights. Shopping online only involves looking at pictures, but coming directly to Cigondewah allows you to choose and experience the quality of the fabric while also enjoying the local atmosphere," he said.

He also invited Karang Taruna, MSME actors and KTC managers to hold a weekly agenda that presents culinary actors from three sub-districts in Cigondewah in rotation.

In this way, it is hoped that KTC will be busy again like its glory days as a textile trading center in the city of Bandung.

Jajang revealed that the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has begun to pay attention to the development of KTC. Several regional agencies, including the Cooperatives and SMEs Office, have inspected the area.

In the future, he hopes that more regional government organizations will be involved, especially agencies that handle tourism, trade and the creative economy.

"We want the Cigondewah textile area to receive broader support so it can revive itself and become a creative economy destination that Bandung can be proud of," he said.

On that occasion, Jajang also invited the entire community to work together to build West Bandung into a more organized and advanced area.

He said that development cannot be carried out by the government alone, but requires collaboration between all elements of society.

"Developing West Bandung cannot be done by the sub-district heads and village heads alone. We need the support of residents to ensure the Cigondewah area becomes more organized, developed, and its economy continues to grow," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Cigondewah Rahayu Village, Iwan Rohendi, appreciated the collaboration of Karang Taruna, the community and KTC management in organizing the activity.

He said the momentum of the commemoration of the Indonesian Independence Day and the approaching Bandung City Anniversary (HJKB) was a spirit to motivate the younger generation to contribute to economic development in their region.

"Alhamdulillah, hopefully, the next generations of this nation can become a new spirit for economic development in the region," said Iwan.

Iwan also expressed his gratitude to all parties, including the Cooperatives and SMEs Service, KTC management, cadres, and residents of Cigondewah Rahayu who supported the implementation of this activity.

According to him, synergy between the government, communities and business actors is an important capital for developing KTC as a center for the creative economy and community-based tourism in the city of Bandung.

"This collaboration can be used as capital to develop KTC and Cigondewah as centers for the creative economy and tourism in Bandung City," he said.
