PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The family is the smallest unit of society, but has a very large role in development. Therefore, family resilience needs to be created for the success of building society.

This was stated by Fitria Adhyaksa, Population and Family Planning Administrator for the Resilience and Welfare Sector of the Bandung City Population and Family Planning Control Service (DPPKB) on a talk show on Radio Sonata, Thursday (17/4/2025).

"If the family is not solid, not strong, how can we build a strong society?" he said.

In facing various challenges, DPPKB Bandung City is present with various programs to improve the quality and resilience of families through family development such as Toddler Family Development, Teenage Family Development, and Elderly Family Development, as well as the Youth Information and Counseling Center.

In addition to the psychological and social approaches, family resilience also needs to be supported from an economic aspect. For this reason, DPPKB formed the Acceptor Family Income Improvement Effort (UPPKA), which consists of KB acceptors, most of whom are women, to build a joint business.

This group produces various products, especially in the culinary field as well as handicrafts and fashion.

"By empowering this group, it is hoped that they can increase family income, buy nutritious food for children, and ultimately improve the quality of life of the family as a whole," explained Fitria.

In order to expand the marketing reach of UPPKA products, DPPKB is also pioneering an online store called Babaka, an abbreviation of Bangga Buatan Keluarga Akseptor.

This initiative is expected to become a promotional and marketing platform for UPPKA business actors more widely.

Highlighting the issue of divorce that has increased recently, Fitria explained, economic factors are one of the dominant causes. DPPKB continues to communicate with the Ministry of Religion to analyze and analyze divorce data. Including triggering factors such as domestic violence, incompatibility, and household economic burdens.

As a preventive measure, DPPKB also drives the Genre (Planned Generation) program through the PIK Remaja (Youth Information and Counseling Center) and Duta Genre.

PIK Remaja functions as a “home” for Genre Ambassadors who are tasked with socializing 10 dimensions of marriage readiness, including economic, health, mental, and social aspects.

Currently, the Bandung City DPPKB is opening registration for the 2025 Genre Ambassador selection which has started since April 14, 2025 and will close on April 23, 2025.

The selected finalists will play an important role in spreading the spirit of family life planning to teenagers in the city of Bandung.

"Becoming a family is not just uniting two people, but also two extended families, two ways of life, and two ways of seeing. So the most important thing is to complement each other, understand each other by building good communication," said Fitria. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/ Rani)
