PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Regional Government of West Java Province continues to develop the application of New Renewable Energy (EBT) in tourist areas through the Eco Green Tourism program, one of which is in Green Canyon, Pangandaran Regency.

This step is in line with the Indonesian Government's commitment to the Net Zero Emission target, namely achieving net zero emissions by 2060.

Head of the West Java Province Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Service, Ai Saadiyah Dwidaningsih, said that his party had installed a 5.5 kWp (kilowatt peak) rooftop PLTS at the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) office.

"Conversion of conventional boat engines to electric engines was also carried out, implementation of SPBKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Station) as a conversion of fuel to electric batteries," said Ai Saadiyah, when contacted in Bandung, Tuesday (21/5/2024).

Apart from that, Public Electric Charging Stations (SPLU) and the use of induction stoves have also been implemented to support an electrifying lifestyle in the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) environment.

"Then the use of FABA (fly ash bottom ash) material or PLTU (Steam Power Plant) waste in the form of paving and casting as well as tourism branding, such as uniforms, buoys, buildings and others," he added.

According to Ai, in phase I there are already around 12 electric engines out of a total of 80 tourist boats in Green Canyon. Meanwhile, only five MSMEs are using induction stoves at Pier 2 and 30 MSMEs at Pier 1 are entering phase II.

"A total of 35 MSMEs in the Green Canyon tourist area are implementing the eco green tourism concept," said Ai.

He also revealed that apart from the Green Canyon in Pangandaran, there are several tourist attractions in West Java that have implemented the eco green tourism concept, including Taman Kiara Artha Park which already provides bicycle and electric scooter rentals.

Tourist locations in West Java that have installed Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), namely in Pangandaran, South Garut, and Lembang, West Bandung Regency.

"Currently there are more than 200 SPKLU locations that can be used in West Java. "Each of these locations can be checked via the Charge in and PLN Mobile applications," he said.

Ai Saadiyah added that the use of EBT in Green Canyon not only provides environmental benefits, but also economic ones, the operational costs of tourist areas can be reduced.

Apart from that, the use of EBT can also reduce carbon emissions and negative impacts on the environment.

As a form of support for the Eco Green Tourism program in West Java, it is planned that the champions of the 2024 Cycling de Jabar long-distance bicycle racing event will be invited to travel to Green Canyon while also seeing the use of new, renewable energy-based tourist boats.
