
PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - The Ciamis Regency Government solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate the 384th anniversary of Ciamis Regency in 2026.
This year's commemoration series felt very special because it was combined with the presentation of hundreds of awards to outstanding individuals and institutions, and was enlivened by the grand cultural parade of Galuh Ethnic Carnival 2026 on Thursday (11/6/2026).
The Regent of Ciamis, Herdiat Sunarya, in his speech explained that thanks to the strong contribution and concern of the community in working together to protect the environment, Ciamis Regency has succeeded in showing extraordinary performance and achieving brilliant achievements, both at the international and national levels.
According to him, this resulted in an award for Ciamis Regency as the cleanest small city in ASEAN and the title of the 1st cleanest regency in the waste management category in Indonesia.
"Other regencies or cities may have to allocate large regional budgets, with more than half of that allocated to river cleaning and waste management. Meanwhile, in Ciamis Regency, the culture of mutual cooperation for environmental cleanliness has become a common practice among the community," said Regent Herdiat.
Regent Herdiat also invited all elements of society to continue to ignite the spirit of mutual cooperation through Guyub Ngawangun Galuh for mutual progress.
After the ceremony, the event continued with the symbolic handover of social assistance and awards led directly by Regent Herdiat.
The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs' Attention Assistance is allocated for cataract surgery, mass circumcisions, decent living, and entrepreneurship assistance for the elderly, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups. Awards were also given to several agencies and to Young Pioneers at the national and provincial levels.
Additionally, Kalijaya, Padaringan, and Tigaherang villages received an award for fastest PBB management, receiving a motorcycle. Jatinagara, Cimaragas, and Pamarican districts received a financial management award in the sub-district category.
The Ciamis Regency Government also demonstrated its commitment to infrastructure development, marked by the signing of the inscription for the new construction of the Bojongmengger Village Piped SPAM and the Replacement of the Gedebong Bridge on the Cibarengkok–Tambaksari Road Section.
The atmosphere of the 384th Anniversary was even more lively with the holding of the Galuh Ethnic Carnival (GEC) 2026. Carrying the tagline Guyub Ngawangun Galuh, this cultural carnival took the route starting from the Ciamis Disbudpora Office and finishing at the Ciamis Regent's Hall.
Thousands of residents crowded along the main route to witness the extraordinarily exotic local arts and culture performances.
This parade was enlivened by spectacular performances starting from the Gema Galuh Marching Band, Bebegig Sukamantri, Buta Kararas Panjalu, Wayang Landung Panjalu & Sangkala, Barongan Purwadadi, Jurig Sarengseng Banjar City, Raja Bele Citeureup, Munding Ki Bowang Kawali, Mabokuy Rajadesa, Mengmleng Winduraja, to guest performances in the form of Angklung Creative Dance from Kuningan Regency.
This combination of achievements, mutual cooperation, and the splendor of the people's culture confirms that the Galuh region of Ciamis Regency is ready to move forward and solidly in 2026. (Ciamis Communications and Information Service/rka)
