PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Program for Increasing the Role of Women Towards Healthy and Prosperous Families (P2WKSS) is one of the efforts of the Bandung City Regional Government to empower women by having abilities according to their desired interests and talents.

This is proven by the implementation of training facilitated by the relevant Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD). The implementation of the training is also supported by the Job Training Institute (LPK).

Sukagalih Village, Sukajadi District is a special location (locus) for implementing P2WKSS in Bandung City.

Currently, make-up, catering and pastry training has been carried out, on July 25 - August 5 2024.

P2WKSS Training participant, Tuti felt motivated after attending the training. He assessed that the training carried out by the Bandung City Government encouraged women to be stronger in their role in family welfare.

"Hopefully this training can be a provision for entrepreneurship. Apart from that, it can also increase income for the family," said Tuti at the Sukagalih Subdistrict office (5/8/2024).

This training is able to enable women to help improve the welfare of their families, especially in improving the economy.

"Hopefully this can increase knowledge and increase family income. "This program is an incentive for women to stand tall in family welfare," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Manpower Service, Andri Darusman, revealed that in 2024 the Bandung City Manpower Office will organize training for 9,000 people with 453 training packages.

"One of the targets is in this area by synergizing with P2WKSS. We are preparing a training program in this sub-district," he said.

Andri said that around 85-90 percent of the training participants were women. This is an indicator that women are able to be competitive in prioritizing their role, especially family welfare.

"85-90 percent of women take part in training. In the city of Bandung, this is one of the highest. Hopefully this will be able to reduce the open unemployment rate," said Andri.

Andri added that the Bandung City Government continues to collaborate with the Industrial Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) to provide opportunities to open businesses in areas of interest.

"We are working with Kadin, the KUKM Service to provide opportunities and start businesses. Like it or not, like it or not, the city of Bandung is changing from industry to becoming a service city. So this training must be utilized," he explained.

He added that there were favorites in the training, such as catering, barista, pastry and make-up.

"The favorite training in the city of Bandung is catering, pastry and barista. Currently, many cafes have appeared in the area opening coffee places," he said.

In the same place, Head of the Bandung City Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service, Uum Sumiati, said that P2WKSS activities were effectively running in the area.

"This activity will effectively run for 10 months, which will be implemented in March. Within a period of 10 months, we will organize several activities, starting from the city, sub-district and sub-district Working Groups. This involves 16 OPDs," he said.
