PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Governor Dedi Mulyadi asked the West Java Financial Services Authority (OJK) to be more aggressive in controlling illegal and dishonest online loans that cause losses.

Dedi also invited the OJK to regulate non-banking financing institutions such as savings and loan cooperatives (kosipa) whose operations are the same as loan sharks, targeting villagers and factory workers.

According to Dedi, the consumerist nature of society is the cause of many West Java residents accessing illegal banks and online loans.

"That can be categorized as a crime if it is an illegal bank, it is called banking crime. We can eradicate it as long as everyone is united," said Dedi Mulyadi after the inauguration of the Head of the West Java OJK.

Dedi admitted that he was worried that during this Eid moment, many people would borrow money from illegal banks and illegal online loans. Dedi asked the public to focus on the meaning of Eid rather than buying new things for lifestyle.

"It is difficult to prohibit people from borrowing, the most important thing is not to be consumptive, it's simple, if you don't have money, don't force it. Don't want to celebrate Eid with joy but then suffer afterwards," he said.

Dedi hopes that the change of the head of the West Java OJK will be a momentum in eradicating illegal banks and illegal loans in West Java. The West Java OJK that was confirmed was Darwisman, replacing the old official Imansyah.

"This inauguration reminds us of the banking problems in West Java, let's strengthen collaboration to eradicate illegal banks and online loans," said Dedi.

In the same place, the Chief Executive of Banking Supervision who is also a Member of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority, Dian Ediana Rae, said that the Governor's hopes regarding the eradication of illegal banks and online loans must be considered by the West Java OJK.

"I think the Governor's direction is a concern for OJK regarding the eradication of informal banks and online loans, this must be a priority," said Dian.

Regarding illegal online loans, Dian revealed that OJK has taken action against online loans in West Java. Including closing 10 thousand accounts involved in online gambling.

"We have closed many illegal ones and have almost closed 10 thousand accounts due to the judol game," he said.

Dian said it is not easy to eradicate loans made online. Moreover, in West Java the challenge is quite large because the population is the highest in Indonesia.

"It is not easy to eradicate this because it is done online. But this is an issue that will be a priority for Mr. Darwisman in West Java, which has quite a big challenge because the population is large, therefore cooperation with various parties is important," he concluded.
