PORTALJABAR, MAJALENGKA REGENCY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that Kertajati Airport in Majalengka Regency is ready to become an alternative airport for aircraft landings and flights following the closure of eight airports due to volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.

Dedi has also asked West Java Provincial Government staff to serve passengers at Kertajati Airport, including providing basic necessities, especially for babies and the elderly.

"I ask all staff to go directly to Kertajati to welcome passengers who will depart and arrive at Kertajati," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, Monday (7/9/2026).

He also hopes that aircraft operations at Kertajati Airport can run safely and comfortably.

Kertajati Airport was designated as an alternative airport by the Ministry of Transportation to accommodate flights unable to land at other airports due to volcanic ash. A paper test conducted at the airport confirmed that Kertajati Airport was not affected by the ash.

Meanwhile, eight airports were closed due to the impact of the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, namely Soekarno Hatta Airport, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Radin Inten II Airport Lampung, Husein Sastranegara Airport, Budiarto Curug Airport, Pondok Cabe Airport, Taufik Kiemas Airport, and Atung Bungsu Airport.
