PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Regional Secretary of West Java Province Herman Suryatman attended the Handover Ceremony for the Position of Interim Chairman of the West Java Province Dharma Wanita Association (DWP) for the 2019-2024 Service Period at the Pakuan State Building, Bandung City, Friday (19/4/2024).
Through this procession, the chair of the West Java DWP was officially occupied by Yanti Krisyana Herman Suryatman.
Previously, during the transition period, the West Java DWP was led by Plt. Chairperson of the West Java Dharma Wanita Association Yanti Budiyantini Taufiq, who is the wife of the Acting West Java Regional Secretary Taufiq Budi Santoso.
So the transition of management within the West Java DWP was carried out at the end of the term of office of the West Java Regional Secretary.
After the handover, West Java DWP administrators and members carried out Halalbihalal Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah at the Pakuan State Building.
On that occasion, Herman Suryatman, who is also the supervisor of the West Java Provincial Unity of Dharma Wanita, said that the DWP which is fronted by mothers or wives of State Civil Servants (ASN) within the West Java Provincial Government must be able to encourage literacy starting from the family environment.
"To build a strong family, it doesn't come down from the sky, you have to work hard, make an effort and the key is literacy," said Herman Suryatman.
According to Herman, literacy will always be homework. Moreover, mothers as empowerers have a big role in building family resilience.
If the spirit of building literacy is successfully implemented in West Java ASN families, then the same thing needs to be transmitted to ASN families within the district/city government in West Java.
Furthermore, all ASN families in West Java have developed a good literacy culture. Furthermore, it is hoped that the community will be inspired to participate in a culture of literacy.
"I think it is homework for DWP administrators to increase family literacy in the West Java ASN extended family, then later ASN families in districts/cities in West Java. We will spread it to the community with DWP pushing as the motor," said Herman.
"If the ASN family is strong, then other families will also be inspired to be strong," he added.
In starting, DWP can work together with related work tools to present modules or pocket books that are easy to understand regarding literacy.
"We start from financial literacy, for example, because West Java ASN's take home pay is good, so if they still feel lacking, there must be something wrong. Therefore, let's educate, we must be financially literate, economically and productive. There are no unproductive ASN ," he said.
Supporting husband
Herman did not forget to remind ASN wives as mothers to be able to encourage and support their respective husbands in their performance, especially during the current leadership transition period for the Governor-Deputy Governor of West Java because there are many development targets that must be accelerated.
"Ladies, if their husbands come home at night, please understand because we are working for the people of West Java," he stressed.
Meanwhile, West Java Women's Association Advisor Amanda Soemedi Bey Machmudin entrusted DWP members to remain female figures, mothers and wives who must always maintain their image and that of their family, especially accompanying their husbands while on duty.
According to Amanda, a mother must be a role model for all groups in society.
"Continue to uphold the simplicity of life, keep your heart grounded, extend your service to society," said Amanda.
"I would like to thank Mrs. Yanti Taufiq for her contribution while leading and to Mrs. Yanti Herman, congratulations on continuing the best work program from the West Java DWP which covers various fields," said Amanda.
Furthermore, Acting Chairperson of the West Java Provincial Dharma Wanita Association Yanti Budiyantini Taufiq, who has handed over the reins of her duties to the Chairperson of the DWP Yanti Krisyana Herman Suryatman, said that apart from being a role model for district/city DWPs in West Java, the West Java DWP is also often visited by DWPs from other provinces in Indonesia to become a learning object.
Meanwhile, Yanti Krisyana Herman Suryatman is determined to give her best for the task she is currently carrying out.
According to him, as an organization for ASN wives, DWP must play an active role in various social issues, especially encouraging development targets both directly and in the form of support for husbands who carry out their mandate as ASN.
"The (Acting) Governor has many duties, that the Regional Secretary must be tasked with reducing poverty, stunting, improving the economic level of society by eliminating unemployment, of course this is a very noble task," he said.
"But this province can't do anything if it doesn't work together with the districts/cities, so we ask for the consent of mothers when their husbands are on duty. We have to be good motivators and supporters when their husbands are struggling," added Yanti.
