PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government held the 4th Community Sports Festival (FORMAS) in 2026, attended by around 3,000 sports activists from 20 Main Sports Organizations (Inorga) as a forum for coaching, athlete selection, and strengthening a healthy lifestyle culture at Pollux Mall Cikarang, South Cikarang District (21/6/2026).

Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, opened the event and stated that increasing community participation in traditional and recreational sports is an important asset for achieving success at the West Java provincial and national levels.

"Bekasi Regency is not only known as an industrial city, but its sports community is also increasingly recognized. I see the Bekasi Regency KORMI, through all its organizations, continuing to experience development, and public interest in sports is increasing," he said.

Asep assessed that FORMAS IV is a forum for developing sports activists as well as a means of recruiting potential athletes who will represent Bekasi Regency in various championships.

The Bekasi Regency Government is also committed to supporting the development of community sports, including considering increasing budget grant support for the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of Bekasi Regency.

"We hope that sports activists will continue to be protected and developed in the future. Traditional sports must be directed towards achievement. The Bekasi Regency Government, along with the Department of Culture, Youth, and Sports, appreciates the implementation of FORMAS IV," he said.

Asep explained that the development of KORMI Bekasi Regency showed positive results with increasing public interest, including among students, in community sports.

Bekasi Regency recorded 33 medals in 2023, and sports activists from Bekasi Regency who represented West Java contributed 20 medals to the 2025 National Sports Festival.

"The most valuable investment is health. KORMI is here to promote sports for the community through its sports association. We hope that Bekasi Regency can continue to improve its achievements in provincial and national sporting events in the future," he said.

The Chairperson of KORMI Bekasi Regency, Ratu Arisdiana, said that FORMAS IV carried the theme Moving, Healthy, Fit Together and was attended by around 3,000 activists from 20 Inorga who would be selected to represent Bekasi Regency in the 2026 West Java Province FORMAS.

"FORMAS IV is not just a sporting event, but also a momentum to increase public participation in sports, produce high-achieving athletes, and strengthen collaboration across all elements of society. We are optimistic that we can realize a resurgent, advanced, and prosperous Bekasi Regency through a healthy lifestyle," he concluded.
