PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) from 27 Regencies and Cities throughout West Java signed a joint commitment to build an integrity zone towards a Corruption-Free Area (WBK) and a Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Area (WBBM) by 2025.
The signing took place at the Coordination Meeting of the Heads of Population and Civil Registration Services of Regencies/Cities throughout West Java in Bandung Regency, Monday ( 2/9/2024 ).
It is hoped that this will be the first step in a major transformation that will change the face of public services in West Java to be more modern, transparent, and always on the side of the interests of the community.
West Java Regional Secretary (Sekda) Herman Suryatman said that this signing was not only to express commitment, but also to voice a grand vision that would encourage real change in population administration services.
"We are not only committed, but also moving with strong determination. Dukcapil together with the West Java Provincial Government and 27 regencies/cities promise to optimize population administration services to be faster, better, cheaper, and easier. All of this is for the welfare of 50 million West Java people," said Herman.
He added that this commitment is not only about improving the system, but also building public trust in a clean and serving government.
"With full support from the local government and the Civil Registration Service throughout West Java, we are ready to build an integrity zone that will bring our bureaucracy closer to the community, without corruption with more sincere and efficient services," he added.
Free from extortion
Meanwhile, the Director General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Teguh Setyabudi, reminded that this commitment must be followed by real actions and results that can be felt directly by the community.
"We cannot just stop at the ceremony as conveyed by the Regional Secretary. We must ensure that population administration services in West Java are not only faster and easier, but also truly free from extortion because all these services are the rights of citizens and must be free," Teguh emphasized.
Furthermore, Teguh emphasized the importance of population data in supporting various aspects of development, including security and public services.
He encouraged all OPDs in West Java to make maximum use of population data in making more accurate and responsive decisions.
According to him, population data can be used for all things, both for development, public services, budget allocation, democratic space, legal fields, and crime prevention.
"Provincial and city-district OPDs throughout West Java are expected to truly be able to optimize this understanding to support decision-making by regional leaders," said Teguh.
