PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - The Garut Regency Family Planning, Family Planning, Empowerment and Child Protection (PPKBPPPA) Department held a Socialization on Special Child Protection at SMPN 4 Tarogong Kidul, Garut Regency, Tuesday (16/1/2024).

This event aims to increase understanding and awareness regarding child protection, especially in the educational environment. This activity was attended by 50 students from various levels representing the OSIS.

Present as a speaker was the Head of the PPKBPPPA Service, Yayan Waryana, who discussed preventing underage marriage with the STOP RUNNING program. Then the Head of the Health Service, Dr. Hj Leli Yuliani delivered material related to the problem of Unintended Pregnancy (KTD) among teenagers and the RISA (Healthy Teenage Girls Free from Anemia) program.

This activity also presented resource persons from the Garut Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Yanri Pratiwi, presenting material on Drug Abuse Prevention and the Garut Regency Education Office, presenting Dr. Ajang Rusmana presented material on Strategies for Preventing and Handling Violence in Schools.

According to the Head of the PPKBPPPA Child Protection Division, Budi Kusnawan, this event not only highlights underage marriage and drug abuse, but also carries the declaration of child-friendly schools.

"It is hoped that this activity can reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Garut Regency, as well as stop violence in educational environments," he said. (Diskominfo Garut/UPI)
