PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Taking place at the West Java Bank Indonesia office, the West Java Transportation Agency and BI West Java launched the use of QRIS TAP digital transactions on Metro JabarvTrans (MJT) Feeder transportation that serves passengers in the Bandung area and its surroundings.

The launch of QRIS TAP in the public service sector, namely transportation, was carried out through synergy and collaboration between Bank Indonesia, the West Java Provincial Government, the Transportation Agency, PT Jasa Sarana, and banks on the Metro Jabar Trans (MJT) service and its feeders.

This initiative not only makes it easier for people to make payments, but also increases the transparency, efficiency, and accountability of the public transportation system.

Metro Jabar Trans, which is present in 6 corridors with a total of 95 buses, plus MJT feeders with a total of 22 fleets, encourages intermodal connectivity in West Java.

Both modes also use QRIS TAP as a payment method. Digitalization is also being implemented in transportation through the use of CCTV, GPS tracking, and an advanced driver assistance system that can detect if a driver is drowsy, exceeding the maximum speed, or using a device.

In his report, the Head of the West Java Provincial Transportation Agency, Dhani Gumelar, emphasized that the launch of the MJT Feeder is a strategic step in realizing an integrated, efficient, and sustainable public transportation system in the Greater Bandung area.

"The MJT Feeder is part of the Bandung Basin Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, which has been under development since 2019. Its presence expands the service reach to residential areas and encourages people to shift from private vehicles to more environmentally friendly public transportation," he said, Friday (10/24/2025).

He added that as a pioneer in implementing QRIS TAP in the public transportation sector, MJT offers the convenience of fast, secure, and efficient cashless transactions. This collaboration between the Transportation Agency and Bank Indonesia strengthens the cashless society movement while increasing the transparency and efficiency of public services.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java Provincial Economic Bureau, Budi Kurnia, stated that the West Java Provincial Government is committed to strengthening the integration of public services through cross-sector digital collaboration.

"This initiative not only introduces a new mode of transportation, but also emphasizes the direction of transformation toward a smart and inclusive public transportation ecosystem. The implementation of QRIS TAP is a tangible symbol of the synergy between digital transformation and public services oriented towards convenience and transparency for the public," he concluded.

In his remarks, the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for West Java Province, Muhamad Nur, stated that this activity represents an important momentum in strengthening an inclusive and efficient digital economic infrastructure.

"QRIS TAP is not just a technological innovation, but part of the national strategy to realize the digital transformation of the payment system towards Indonesia Emas 2045. With the support of all parties, West Java is expected to become a national model in implementing safe, easy, fast, and inclusive digital transactions," he said.

By August 2025, the QRIS ecosystem in West Java continued to show rapid growth. The number of QRIS users reached 12.7 million, or approximately 22% of the national total, while the number of merchants reached 8.7 million, or 21% of the national market share.

During the same period, QRIS transaction volume in West Java reached 1.59 billion transactions, representing a 213.39 percent year-on-year growth. The transaction value reached Rp148.95 trillion, representing a 139.87 percent year-on-year growth. This achievement confirms West Java as one of the provinces with the highest QRIS adoption in Indonesia and serves as a barometer for the development of the national digital economy.
