PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo) is again holding the Bandung Digital Academy (Badami) Road to Campus program at Telkom University, Monday (28/4/2025).
Carrying the big theme around smart cities, social media, the use of artificial intelligence (AI), and the development of journalism, this event is a forum for collaboration between academics, government, and the media.
The event received a warm welcome from the campus. Head of the Applied Undergraduate Study Program of Multimedia Engineering Technology Telkom University Ady Purna Kurniawan appreciated the activity.
Ady assessed that the theme raised was very relevant to the study program at Telkom University, which focuses on the development of digital technology and media creativity.
"The topics discussed today are very much in line with our curriculum that integrates multimedia technology with the needs of the digital industry. Students need to understand how technologies such as AI and social media shape the real world, including in the context of smart cities and journalism," he said.
This time, Badami presents two main speakers, namely Ganjar Setya Pribadi from Diskominfo and Yuda from Detik Jabar.
In his presentation, the Head of the Information and Communication Technology Evaluation Working Team Ganjar Setya Pribadi emphasized that smart city development cannot run alone. He considered the importance of pentahelix collaboration involving academics, businesses, communities, government, and the media.
"The young generation must be prepared to become smart and ethical individuals in utilizing social media and AI technology. This cross-sector collaboration is the main key to the success of a smart city," he said.
Then Yuda from Detik Jabar discussed the big role of AI in driving the transformation of the world of journalism. He explained that artificial intelligence technology now not only helps in data collection and information analysis, but also in producing faster and more accurate journalistic content.
"AI provides incredible speed in journalistic work, from research to news production. However, journalists must remain present as guardians of the truth by verifying facts and maintaining ethics. AI is a tool, but journalistic integrity must still be maintained by humans," he said.
The Badami Road to Campus event at Telkom University received a positive response from students. Enthusiasm was evident from the many questions asked by participants, especially regarding the application of AI in the workplace and the contribution of the younger generation in developing smart cities.
This interactive discussion proves how important it is to build healthy and innovative digital awareness among students.
With a collaborative spirit, Bandung City Communications and Information Office hopes that activities like this can continue to strengthen the synergy between the academic world and practitioners to welcome an inclusive and sustainable digital future.
