PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government through the Manpower Office has prepared training subsidies of up to IDR 15 million for residents who participate in internship and work placement programs in Japan as an effort to expand job opportunities and reduce unemployment rates (18/6/2026).
Head of the Bandung City Manpower Office, Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, said the internship program is one way to align job seekers' competencies with industry needs.
The Bandung City Manpower Office is collaborating with various companies, including those in the hotel and restaurant sector, to provide government-funded internship programs.
"We offer government-funded internships. Participants receive transportation assistance and instructors, which helps industry and provides job seekers with work experience," he said.
Yayan explained that internship participants gain experience and skills that are relevant to the needs of the business world, thus increasing their chances of being absorbed into the workforce.
In addition to expanding the internship program, the Manpower Office is intensifying outreach for overseas worker placement, especially to Japan, which still needs a large number of Indonesian workers.
He said the government provides subsidies for Japanese language training, work culture, and other skills as provisions before participants depart.
"We subsidize almost Rp10 million to Rp15 million for Japanese language learning, work culture, and other skills before departure," he said.
Yayan explained that workers who work abroad for three to five years will gain experience and skills that can improve the quality of human resources when they return to Indonesia.
The Bandung City Manpower Office also collaborates with a number of training institutions and universities, including Bandung University of Technology, to open up opportunities for students to work while studying abroad.
The program is expected to be an alternative for the young generation of Bandung City to obtain decent jobs, improve their competence, and be competitive in the global job market.
