PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin is exploring cooperation on cultivation technology with Korean practitioners to improve the quality of strawberries and garlic, (6/8/2026).

The exploration took place when Abdusy Syakur Amin received the Industrial Practitioner Lecturer of the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University (Unpad), Dr. Chung KyongHo, in the Pamengkang Room.

The meeting discussed plans for trial cultivation of strawberries, garlic, and potatoes using an agricultural approach developed by Korean practitioners.

Abdusy Syakur Amin welcomed the exploration positively because it has the potential to improve the quality of local commodities while strengthening Garut Regency's superior products.

"Today, we in Garut have an honorable guest, Doctor Chong, from Korea. He is a lecturer assigned to Unpad. He discussed with us earlier regarding efforts to develop the cultivation of Garut's superior commodities. The first is strawberries, and the second is garlic," he said.

Abdusy Syakur Amin stated that the collaboration is still in its early stages and requires further communication to realize the development of the two commodities.

"Of course, this is just a discussion. We hope there will be more intensive communication in the future so that we can realize our hopes regarding these two commodities," he continued.

Dr. Chung KyongHo conveyed plans to conduct trial planting of garlic, potatoes, and strawberries in the Garut Regency area.

"I have plans to trial planting garlic, potatoes, and strawberries. I was quite happy to meet the Regent today, and we look forward to a good collaboration in the future," said Dr. Chung.

The trial is expected to produce cultivation methods that are suitable for Garut conditions while increasing the productivity and quality of agricultural products.

The collaboration between the Garut Regency Government, Unpad, and Korean industry practitioners is expected to open up new innovations for farmers and strengthen the competitiveness of regional horticultural commodities.
